🍴NNL writer Sarah Hardy tried out the new cafe at Algy’s Farm Shop at Bintree, calling in for a Veggie Full English while her better half had the Turkish Eggs. 🍴It’s a great addition to the well stocked farm shop and serves several all day brunch options, a couple of lunch specials and also has a crammed cake counter. There is a children’s menu and dogs are allowed, too. It’s all very laid back, the staff are friendly and the fresh flowers on each table were a nice touch. Well done all. 🎃The farm is also well known for its pumpkin patch where you can pick your own pumpkins (until 31 October), there’s a spooky trail to follow plus lots and lots of pumpkins for sale. 🏉It was a bit of a scrum at Mannington Book Bash, says NNL writer Sarah Hardy, as sporting legend Ben Youngs spoke about his new book, Beyond The Line. 🏉 Ben, who grew up in the area and has now returned to live here, chatted with Times rugby writer Alex Lowe about his stellar career as a scrum half, playing for Leicester Tigers and England. The 36-year-old talked with candour about the highs and lows of his career, and gave plenty of insights into what life as a professional sportsman is really like and what it takes to make it to the top. 📚The Book Bash continues all weekend with leading names such as Sarah Perry, Nigel Planer and Esther Freud appearing. #teamtakeover: NNL’s Sarah Hardy reviews Hamilton #pressvisit It’s the big musical that everyone has been talking about and it’s finally here. Hamilton - the story of how America became what it is today - is at Norwich Theatre Royal for a massive six weeks but does it live up to the hype? It’s certainly loud and proud - and long at just under three hours. It hits you right between the eyes from the very start and that fast pace doesn’t let up for a moment. It’s very much a New Age musical, blending rap, hip hop, jazz, R&B and some classic musical theatre numbers to produce a really dazzling production. And, for once, there’s a strong story life as we follow Alexander Hamilton, an immigrant who becomes George Washington’s right hand man. Marley Fenton excels as the ambitious wheeler dealer and Casey Al-Shaqsy as his wife Eliza has some beautiful songs, too. The lyrics are very witty throughout, especially from Billy Nevers as Aaron Burr, who is Hamilton’s rival, and look out for Louis Maskell as King George as he’s a real comedy highlight. It’s rightly smashing records and winning awards all around the globe so catch the phenomenon while you can.
