🦪NNL writer Sarah Hardy attended the launch day of a major new initiative this week, aimed at restoring the oyster reef off the North Norfolk coast. 🦪Oyster Heaven founder George Birch plans to deploy more than four million oysters by 2026 to help clean and restore the North Sea. Using his specially designed Mother Reefs, clay bricks, the juvenile oysters are being grown in tanks in a barn outside Wells before being taken two miles offshore by the Norfolk Seaweed Company. It is a 10-year project which hopes to restore marine ecosystems by improving water quality and providing a home for a wide range of species. Picture 1: Allie Wharf of Norfolk Seaweed

☀️A gorgeous garden, good company and plenty of sunshine, not to mention a delicious menu, made for a lovely summery lunch @jarrolds_letheringsett the other week, before heading into Holt. 🍴Bridget enjoyed goat’s cheese quiche with mixed leaves and slaw, and I had the ham and cheese ciabatta - both were very tasty and I enjoyed a quick look around the well-stocked farm shop, too. ☀️This converted 18th century barn had a lovely buzz about it (the restaurant was busy so I didn’t intrude by filming). A beautiful August morning watching Sharpies launch at Brancaster Staithe today as part of the 61st European Sharpie Championships which runs until Friday. Around 50 of these gaff rigged classic boats are taking part, from the UK (including Brancaster Staithe, Wells and Burnham Overy harbours), the Netherlands, and Germany; designed in 1931, the Sharpie is a former Olympic class boat - in fact Chuckles, sailing this week, was the UK bronze medal winning boat in the 1956 Olympics. #summer #sailing #classicboat #sharpies #gaffrig #brancasterstaithe #harbour #european #championships #northnorfolk #coast #lifeonthecoast #northnorfolkliving #sails #reflections #August

🐾 Bella the border collie took NNL writer Sarah Hardy on a five mile walk around the pretty villages of Little and Great Massingham, taking in some of Peddars Way. ☕️First was a fuelling up stop at Biagio’s in East Rudham which included a doggychino before the easy walk along pretty country tracks though farmland, with a few unexpected guests along the way! 🍴Finally drinks were enjoyed at The Dabbling Duck and then lunch at The Cartshed Tearoom which was new to us. Another great day, with a bit of exercise, gorgeous countryside, and cake, of course!
